Samoan Tattoo

Today we looked at a few videos about traditional Samoan tattoos and why some people get them. There are pe'a for men, and malu for women.  We found out that the traditional method of tattoo is painful and takes a long time.  It is a mark of courage to wear the pe'a or malu.

 After that we drew some awesome designs and here are some of them;

Kereru/Maui Art

Today we drew Kereru and we had a choice of decorating them with koru, or using koru on the background.  The reason we did this is because our teacher read a story to us called Maui and the Underworld.  In the story, Maui turned into a Kereru, and followed his mother to the underworld where he met his father.  Here is some of our beautiful art work.
